一位歐洲央行決策官員周二接受訪問時說，歐洲央行上周意外降息後，可能必須採取進一步積極行動，以支撐歐元區經濟。

執行委員會委員Joerg Asmussen說，他不排除降低目前為0%的歐洲央行存款利率的可能性，對銀行業將過多流動性存於央行，採取實質收費措施。

「我對此一行動，會非常謹慎，因為這將會送出一項非常強烈的訊號，但基本上，我也不會排除這種可能性，」他於接受德國地方報紙Neue Osnabruecker Zeitung訪問時說。

做為設於法蘭克福的委員會六位委員之一，Asmussen亦是央行利率制定執行委員會的一位委員，該委員會包含該貨幣同盟的17國央行主管。

Asmussen為上周的降息，提出辯護。該降息讓歐洲央行基準利率來到新低點0.25%。

此次降息，為維持通貨膨脹接近所希望的略低於2%範圍所必需，他說。10月，通貨膨脹年率下降到了僅0.7%。
